Heat Alone Kills Breast Cancer

Hey! I had my annual mammogram today and everything was normal. I'll have a 6 month study on the left side only in July. I also had blood drawn Monday so that the oncologist will have those results for my 3 month follow-up with the oncologist on February 2. So this has been a very exciting week so far. I didn't think that I was stressed out about the mammogram today, but I guess I was a little bit. Or at least I was after the fact. Anyway, I was a bit worried about discomfort with the highest incision from the gallbladder surgery, but the tech was very gentle and careful to make sure that it was as comfortable a process as possible. It's very nice that this facility gives survivors their results immediately so that there's no waiting. That sure decreases the stress!

SoYouWanna perform a breast self-examination?

Well, feeling better every day. If you go over to the Hairy Karen page for this week, you'll not only see my latest hair pictures, but you'll also get a chance to see Grizzie in all her glory. I met with my surgeon yesterday and he said I was doing well. He said I'm not voicing any of the typical complaints that people have at this stage, so he is very satisfied with my recovery. He admonished me to remember that it will take my abdominal muscles about 6 weeks to fully heal, so I'm not to do anything strenuous. I can start swimming again next week - if California ever stops sending us this dreadful weather. I started sleeping back in the master bedroom again. The waterbed was a little uncomfortable the first night, but last night I was very comfortable. The bigger problem is the cats. They have no conception of sore belly buttons, and must constantly be shooed away. The surgeon tells me that cats are not considered a post-operative complaint, just a general nuisance. I will see him again at the end of March for my 1 year follow-up to the lumpectomy. I told him that was all well and good, but he should plan on finding a new income source as I am not having any more surgeries!
