I had my MUGA scan last week finally. It was a mess. Over 45 minutes to get less than 2 cc's of blood out of a teeny vein in my hand. Toward the end, all the digging around with the needle got old. And I responded by getting very close to fainting. The tech took mercy on me. He settled for the piddling amount of blood he got even though protocol says he needed more. And he let me lay down in a cold room while he tagged the blood. Normally they make you sit in a hot, stuffy room. Anyway, the only problem we had doing the MUGA was that my heart rate was so low it kept setting off the alarm on the machine. I guess the machine thought I was trying to die on it! Ha! My dad has a low heart rate, and I'm feeling in pretty good shape, so I took this as a good sign. The tech told me I'd have my results that same day, or possibly the next morning. That was a week ago. I just got the results today. It was well worth the wait! My heart actually came up stronger on this test than it did on the MUGA that was done before I started chemo! The cardiologist told me he definitely can't explain that, but he also said he won't argue with it. Me either! Praise God!

I see the cardiologist on September 4 and then the surgeon for my 18 month follow-up on September10. Then I should have 3 or 4 weeks off until I have to do the CT scan/bloodwork/onc visit again. I am looking forward to that time off from doctors, believe me!

I've added a site search function. If you click Archives button, you'll see the searchbox. It searches all the pages (except the guestbook) so you can find what you are most interested in reading about.
