Henna Tattoo July 18, 2000
Here are some pictures of my henna tattoo. To really appreciate this, you had to see it in person. Nevertheless, enjoy!
Right View

I'm really sorry that the beautiful work down on the neck and curling around front has
already begun to fade on this view and the next.
Left View

You can't really see him anymore, but there was a lovely butterfly, symbolizing
transformation, down on my neck on this side.
Close Up of the Bird

Isn't he beautiful? I just love this bird, and it's in a part of the head that I can
see in the mirror without doing contortions.
Close Up of the Cat-Dragon

My cats have been such integral parts of my journey through life that I had to have
a cat as part of this tattoo. It's the first thing I show people when I'm showing them
my tattoo. This cat is placed on my head so that he is more like a cat angel, watching
over me all the time. He's quite ferocious in fending off evil spirits and nasty
beasties.
Back View

We weren't able to take a better picture of this because we waited too long and the beautiful
heart over the base of the skull has already started to fade. I wish I hadn't waited so
long to process these pictures! (7/29/2000)
The Artist
If you are in the Phoenix area and want a henna tattoo, please contact Shaliney at Nile Magik Henna Tattoos. She also
does workshops and group lessons. Not only is she a talented, intuitive artist, she really shared my sense of excitement about this affirmation of the beauty of
baldness. This tattoo may seem like a silly thing to someone who has never experienced the gift of baldness that chemotherapy brings, but it really perked me up
and strengthened me. Two days after having this tattoo, I received my third chemotherapy treatment, and let me tell you, I was the most beautiful patient in that
doctor's office!
